Henry Zovaro and Joel Wilson (ANU)
In recent years, transgender people have become more and more prominent in mainstream media, with some notable transgender individuals such as Chelsea Manning, Caitlyn Jenner and Laverne Cox becoming household names. Nonetheless, many people are unaware of the unique issues and struggles that transgender people face in their day-to-day existence. In this Feast of Facts, we hope to give the audience a better understanding of what it means to be transgender, how to be a good ally, and to dispel common misconceptions. Joel Wilson, a transgender man, will talk about his experiences being perceived as both a woman and a man, with a focus on his experiences in STEM fields.
