Building on her experience as an ASEG President, STEM ambassador, and senior manager with Geoscience Australia, this talk is aimed at scientists at any stage in their career and will cover shared challenges, what we need to do more of (get a mentor), and less of (going it alone), where to go to for help (again find a mentor) and how you can make the most of 2021 and beyond. Bio: Marina Costelloe is Acting Branch Head for the Mineral Systems Branch at Geoscience Australia. Currently she is leading the minerals component of the $125 million, four-year extension and expansion of Geoscience Australia’s Exploring for the Future Program. Marina joined Geoscience Australia in 2007 as an exploration geophysicist, and has worked in areas as diverse as mineral exploration, groundwater, critical infrastructure, data science, earthquakes and contributed to international nuclear monitoring and space weather. Marina represents the Geology and Geography Cluster on the board of Science and Technology Australia and represents Australia on the Society of Exploration Geophysics Pacific Regional Affairs Committee. In 2018, Marina was the President of the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysics (ASEG). Marina is passionate about diversity, women in STEM and indigenous employment. |
