The Unstable Neutral Medium results from the multiphase nature of the Interstellar medium, in order to have both stable warm and cold phases an unstable transitionary phase must exist between them. Despite having known of this phase through modelling for decades it has appeared less abundant than expected when conducting observations. Here we present one of the deepest observations of 21cm HI in absorption to date. Using these observations and gaussian decomposition techniques we are able to detect some of the warmest HI components published. This provides much needed data to a scarcely sampled phase of the Interstellar medium which will improve our understanding of how gas transitions between these phases its abundance and temperature. |
