"Birth tantrums of star clusters"

Star clusters form in a tumultuous process of gas accretion, turbulent collapse, and dispersal, in which their initial properties, like structure, density, and boundedness, are forged. Into this mix, newborn stars emit energy and momentum in several forms. How does energetic stellar feedback interfere with the ongoing arrival of new matter? What ultimately ends a cluster’s formation, and how does it then impact the wider interstellar medium? I will approach these questions with physical arguments and make connections to recent observations of young and adolescent clusters.
