"How I Lost 20 Kg: A Review of the Literature in Nutrition, Exercise and Health Science"

I discuss my fitness journey and motivations to recover my health after it reached a trough following two events in 2012, the death of my father and the completion of my PhD. I review the method I used first, which worked inefficiently and at a snail’s pace, as well as results from the literature of other methods that don’t work. I then discuss recent developments that are transforming the field, such as the evolving advice on nutritional supplements, the importance of intensity in exercise, the role of gut bacteria, renewed interest in the benefits of fats and cholesterols, and the surprising benefits of fasting.
