The MCAO-Assisted Visible Imager and Spectrograph (MAVIS) will deliver high-resolution optical imaging and spectroscopic capabilities once it goes on sky at the ESO VLT in the early 2030’s. As MAVIS moves towards closure of its final design review (FDR) with ESO, planning for the next steps of MAVIS are underway. In this talk, I will provide an overview of the MAVIS design and capabilities, highlight some of the key science that it aims to address, and provide an update of the FDR process and its outcomes. |
