With DREAMS in production and Palomar-Gattini collecting data, it is time to prepare for the next generation of IR transient telescopes. A wide-field, meter class telescope located in Antarctica would bring the deepest all-sky survey ever taken in K-band with unprecedented cadence. AITC and Caltech are already leading the charge and plan to complete such this telescope in 5 years in order to match the LIGO upgrade that would allow us to find IR counterparts to gravitational waves. Now is time to build the Australian side of the Antarctic-DREAMS consortium (BYO white papers...). |
