"Evolving planets in real time with TESS"

Studying planets over a wide range of ages is the next best thing to observing planet formation and evolution in real time. Planets and planetary systems evolve rapidly within the first few hundred million years post formation. During this time, our own Earth lost its primordial hydrogen-helium atmosphere, and Jupiter and Saturn migrated to their present-day orbits. I will present our efforts to discover new planets around young stars with NASA’s TESS mission, and the follow-up programs we are conducting to study the dynamical and atmospheric properties of these planets. Together, these observations are offering a rare glimpse into universal mechanisms, such as atmospheric mass-loss, and planetary migration, that shape all planetary systems.
