"The cold outflow from the nucleus of the Milky Way"

The nucleus of our Galaxy is home of several high-energy processes (black hole, intense star formation) that have generated a large-scale, multiphase, nuclear wind. In the past few years, we have extensively studied the colder components of this outflow thanks to dedicated surveys of the Galactic Centre region in neutral hydrogen (HI) and molecular lines. These observations have revealed for the first time the resolved structure of cold gas clouds entrained in a galactic wind and have returned a number of new, puzzling aspects of these fascinating phenomena. In this talk, I will review the main discoveries and findings about the cold gas phases of the Milky Way’s nuclear outflow and I will discuss its possible origin and impact on the central regions of the Galaxy.
