I will report on the work done at ESO with collaborating institutes and industry, towards an LGS-AO facility for testing novel schemes and devices related to visible LGS-AO systems for astronomy and for satellite communications. This is the CaNaPy (ESO) – ALASCA (ESA) project, which is installed and being commissioned at the ESA OGS 1m telescope in Tenerife. I will review the main requirements, the system configuration, the elements of novelty, and how we have addressed them. I will show results of end-to-end simulations for the system. |
