"The flows of gas: linking galaxy evolution and gas at multiple scales"

Gas flows drive galaxy appearances, from the largest scales where they fuel galaxy formation and provide angular momentum, to galaxy scales where density perturbations drive the appearance of spiral arms, down to the smallest where the turbulent motions are key in determining how and where stars form. I will touch upon all these through three different surveys I am involved in. I’ll describe how we can drive down to the physics of the links between galaxy evolution and gas flows using the statistics of the large galaxy surveys possible with the latest instruments like MUSE, ALMA and ASKAP.
