"Locks, schmocks. Lockpicking and tales of (mis)adventure of an amateur locksmith."

Settling for a set of lockpicks as one of the more likely “illegal” things I’d be able to sneak back into Australia while visiting the US, I’ve embarked on a fascinating journey of locks, how they work and the often false sense of security they provide. In this talk I’ll explain just what lock picking is, how it differs from what Hollywood portrays – and some personal experiences. I’ll describe how you can make your own keys, picks, what constitutes a ‘good’ lock and introduce you to the growing hobby of “locksport”, while reassuring you that these techniques won’t be used on your home (lifting roof tiles is much faster)!
