Compressible hydrodynamic simulations of turbulence have applications including astrophysical modelling of star formation, and such simulations are simplified if numerical energy dissipation effects can act as a proxy for viscous forces. In an effort to further understanding of these effects, we implemented the kinetic energy equation to quantify and analyse the structure of this dissipation. I will discuss the fractal nature of turbulence and how these results parallel the structure observed in real-life turbulence. This is an ASC presentation by a PhB student. |
