"Heating and Cooling in our Galactic Neighbour, Andromeda"

I will present here some of the work that I, my group and collaborators have done on understanding the heating and cooling of the nearest L* galaxy to our own, Andromeda. Its proximity means that we gain a high resolution picture of a typical galaxy unobtainable anywhere else except for the Milky Way, but being external, we can see the integrated picture at the same time, making comparisons with more distant surveys much easier. With observations from the X-ray to radio, including Hubble and Herschel observations, we have a picture of a galaxy not seen anywhere else.
