Adiabatic Hyrdrodynamic TestsThe results from a set of 1D 2D and 3D hydrodynamics test are presented here. Many tests are compared directly with the compilation of 1D and 2D tests by Liska and Wendroff. In addition to the L&W tests, extensions include 3D tests with known analytical solutions, a more severe striping instability test and some radiative test models (not available yet). Liska and Wendroff Riemann TestsA suite of 1 and 2D Riemann tests, performed with a representative set of hydrodynamics codes has been published at http://www-troja.fjfi.cvut.cz/~Liska/CompareEuler/compare8/ and in the article Liska & Wendroff, 2003, Journal on Scientific Computing, Vol. 25. No. 3 pg 995. (For convenience a copy of the article is available here, but the interested reader should also refer to the original authors site for any updates or corrections) Test Results and Test CodeFyris Alpha was used to perform all the L&W test suite, and in addition some extensions/clarifications of the tests. Fyris Alpha performs all the test problems very well, and produced results equal or better than any of the L&W test codes for many problems, in particular the extremely strong shock Noh problems. All the results along with animations and/or key frames are available via links to the left. Note, the test results here are being updated as improvements to Fyris are tested, so they should be considered a live record. When Fyris is released, the complete set of problem code and initialisation files will be included. |
