Accommodation


The WiA 2014 workshop coincides with a sitting week for both houses of the Federal Parliament. Considerable numbers of politicians, their staff, journalists and other groups will converge upon Canberra. Participants are strongly encouraged to arrange accommodation at their earliest convenience.

Participants are responsible for booking their own accommodation (unless otherwise arranged). We suggest the following hotels/hostels on/near the ANU campus:

  1. The ANU University House is holding a mixture of 11 rooms for participants until 4 weeks before the event. Please contact the University House directly to book a room, and mention the event "Women in Astronomy".
  2. A special rate is arranged with the QT Canberra hotel (formerly Rydges Lakeside), with booking code: X-2708WAW. Subject to availability, rates are $237 per night for the QT Standard Queen rooms or $287 per night for the QT Superior Queen rooms. Breakfast can be obtained at a discounted rate of $19 using this booking code. Please contact the hotel directly.
  3. Canberra City YHA has cheap shared accommodation. It is a 20 minute walk from Uni House, but it is a drop-off point for the Airport Express Bus.
