1958: Academic procession at ANU The Observatory joined the ANU in 1957 as its Department of Astronomy. Mt. Stromlo scientists could then participate in University academic processions, as they did with Australian Prime Minister, Robert Menzies (left), shown in 1958 at ANU, Canberra.
