VENUE

The Vallombrosan Abbey of Trinità di Spineto was built in 1085. It represents a significant example of Italian monasticism and, in particular, Tuscan monasticism. The name Spineto is derived from the Spinum plants which once covered the site. In 1830 the Abbey fell into private hands.
Its current owners, the Tagliapietra family, acquired the Abbey in 1989 and immediately began a three year restoration, including recovery of the ancient farms that were historically part of the estate.
The Abbey’s ancient walls have been lovingly restored. Both interior spaces and the grounds have been rethought to meet modern needs, but with each part of the restoration conceived and executed with the goal of keeping the ancient soul of the place alive and in synergy with history and the magnificent Tuscan environment Abbazia di Spineto offers an ideal environment for meetings, conferences, weddings and other ceremonies. Expect gourmet food and wine (including delicious meats that are cured in-house). Abbazia di Spineto is fantastic!

We will be organizing a full-day excursion to Montepulciano, including a tasting session of local wine, for an additional fee. Buses will take participants from Florence airport to Abbazia di Spineto on April 8 (evening), and returning participants to Florence airport on April 13 (afternoon), if needed.

Lunch at La Bottega Del Nobile. “In the heart of the city of the Poliziano, in the historical wine cellars of the Avignonesi Palace, where one of the most fascinating wine was born, our Restaurant and Wine Bar found its right place. A place of good food and wine. Our attention to the selection of products and the traditions behind our recipes, the simplicity of our courses, and our desire to make your visit an unforgettable sensorial and personal experience, exemplifies our service.” The restaurant website, a walking map to La Bottega Del Nobile
