Between 2020 and 2024, ASTRO 3D collaborated with the ANU to deliver the Scientists Taking Astronomy to Regional Schools (STARS) programs This was funded through two federal government Maker Project grants. Schools (mostly in rural and remote areas) received a visit from professional astronomers who gave presentations and workshops on a variety of astronomy topics and ran star-gazing evenings. A Dobsonian telescope and accessories was gifted to each school and a suite of education resources for teachers and students to further support the use of the telescopes were developed.
