"Innovation at the cultural interface of Indigenous Knowledge and Astrophysics"

Research at the intersection of astrophysics and Indigenous astronomy has rapidly accelerated over the last two decades. But during this time, motivations, approaches, and methods have shifted and evolved. We are now seeing astronomers, Elders, and those who walk in both worlds collaborate in ways that are mutually beneficial by showcasing the scientific achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that were not previously recognised while altering the way we conduct astrophysics research, addressing pressing issues of who benefits, who is allowed to participate, and how this knowledge is shared and applied. In this talk, Duane Hamacher will discuss how these worlds are working together and what this means for the future of astronomy.
