In early 2007 I spent 3 months in Chile in and around the city of La Serena on a Gemini South Summer Studentship. La Serena is a beautiful old coastal town about 400 kms North of the capital Santiago. I was also lucky enough to spend some time atop Cerro Tololo and Cerro Pachon, two of the best observing sites in the world. Cerro Pachon is home to the mammoth Gemini South 8m telescope.
