Homepage of Jose Robles

Welcome !

I am José Robles, I'm studying Astrophysics at The Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics (RSSA) and the Planetary Science Institute (PSI) at The Australian National University (ANU).

Honours Project:

I did my Honours Project with Elias Brinks on Core-Collapse Supernovae in Dwarf Irregular
galaxies
We wondered how possible/feasible it would be to organize a search for SNeII-P in
these galaxies, and use them as distance indicators
(download).

3-Months Project:

I did my 3-months project with Helmut Jerjen on the LSI deep NIR (H-band) Survey. The idea
was to observe the Cen-A group galaxies with the Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT) and the IRIS2 CCD, but a dome-gear box malfunction put the telescope out of action and we lost the complete run... (disaster) The back exit was an H-band Tully Fisher relation for field spiral galaxies.

PhD Project:

...After working for Helmut's "First Deep NIR Study of galaxies in the Cen-A group" about 4 months, I decided to switch to planets. I am working with Charley Lineweaver. We are estimating the bulk composition of terrestrial planets, The way the chemical elemental abundances fractionate during planets' formation. We are also in a statistic comparisson of the Sun and stellar parameters
