Hello & Welcome!
I am a PhD student at the Australian National University's Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics located at Mt. Stromlo Observatory in Canberra, Australia.
I am working on a survey to look for transiting extra-solar planets in the Galactic Plane. My supervisors are Penny Sackett, Brian Schmidt and Ken Freeman.
Transiting Extra-Solar Planets
An extra-solar planet is a planet that orbits a star other than our own Sun.
If the orbit of the planet happens to pass in front of the star a transit occurs, which will result in a small drop in the star's observed brightness. By this phenomenon extra-solar planets can be detected orbiting stars out to great distances.
