The SDSS II Supernova Search

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey II is an extension of the originally SDSS telescope. The II part of SDSS consists of 3 main programs, one of which includes a supernova survey. The SDSS-II lasted for 3 years and discovered over 500 type Ia supernova in addition to many more of other species. The primary redshift range was 0.1 < z 0.3.

My work has been also similar to that of ESSENCE and will be working on the properties of the host galaxies. I will also be working on the metallicity and star formation calculations based on spectra, a project jointly undertaken with ESSENCE.
