"A fork in the career road: from astronomer to curator"

In 2016 I completed my PhD at the University of Sydney and left astronomy to take up a position as a Science Curator at the Powerhouse Museum. In this talk I will discuss a little bit about my decision to leave astronomy, how I got my new position, and what skills from my PhD have been most useful in my new role. I will talk about my experience of leaving astronomy - both the upsides and the downsides. Finally, I’ll share a little bit about what I’ve been working on since starting my new position, and hopefully show just how much fun working in a Science Museum can be.
