"Portrayal of and by Women in Hollywood"

I review some of what I’ve recently learned about the portrayal by and of women in Hollywood productions. I first discuss how women are under-represented in roles as writers, directors, cinematographers, etc, some of the discussion around the issue, and in contrast how many men manage to make it to the top of the queue fairly quickly. I then continue with a few case studies such as Starship Troopers, Frozen, and Jurassic World, each provides an invaluable, distinct lesson in how women are and can be portrayed by Hollywood, and what the forces for that portrayal are.
