Manuscript Deadline: All manuscripts must be received by October 23, 1998, in order to be included in the proceedings. INSTRUCTIONS FOR MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION AND ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION We are assuming that all authors have access to the usual LaTeX and dvips document preparation software. If these tools are not available to you, please contact the Editors. __ Get the formatting and sample document files from mso.anu.edu.au as follows: % ftp merlin.anu.edu.au (150.203.89.16) ftp> [log in as anonymous] ftp> [use your email address as the password] ftp> cd pub/tss/Proceedings ftp> binary [don't forget this!] ftp> mget *.Z ftp> quit __ Use "uncompress" to decompress the files (all files have been compressed to minimize the transfer time your machine. If you have any problems, please contact the Editors and we will make uncompressed versions available to you). __ Run latex and then dvips on the "sample.tex" file --- this is both a sample paper and a detailed set of instructions. "sample.tex" should be a sufficient template for most circumstances, although "paspman.tex" is included, for those who might like to know more about all the capabilities and options available with the ASP style file. __ Prepare your paper according to the formatting guidelines, and check that it prints correctly. __ If your paper has figures or illustrations NOT in encapsulated PostScript (EPS) files, prepare hardcopies at production size, and AIR-MAIL them to the First Editor's Colorado address. If at all possible though, we *beg* the authors to submit electronic encapsulated PostScript figures!! It would be *greatly* appreciated if the authors could restrict themselves to black-and-white reproductions only. __ Check to be sure you have included an abstract. __ Deposit your manuscript files (source text and any EPS figures) in the directory pub/tss/Manuscripts on the node merlin.anu.edu.au via anonymous ftp. Large files can be compressed with "gzip" or "compress" before being deposited. Identify the manuscript copy by using the last name of the first author, e.g., gibson.tex. Any EPS files should be identified in a similar way, e.g., gibson_fig1.eps, gibson_fig2.eps. Authors with multiple papers will need to indicate this as well, e.g., putman1.tex, with figures putman1_fig1.eps, etc, and putman2.tex with figures putman2_fig1.eps, etc. __ Conversely, authors are welcome to email their completed LaTeX text and encapsulated PostScript figures to the Editors. In this case, please ensure that the subject line reflects the file-naming convention espoused in the previous paragraph. __ If you did not leave a signed and dated Copyright Agreement with the Editors during the Workshop, please sign and date the Copyright Agreement and FAX or AIR-MAIL it to the First Editor's (B.K. Gibson) Colorado address. A signed Copyright Agreement is a necessary pre-requisite for publishing your manuscript. __ Unless contacted by the Editors, a complete paper copy need not be submitted ... the electronic version should suffice.
