IAU Symposium 209: Planetary nebulae and their Role in the Universe

Canberra November 19-23

Proceedings Publication Procedures

Deadline 31st January 2002

The submission deadline for proceedings papers is January 31st 2002. Unfortunately, late submissions cannot be guaranteed to be included in the proceedings. Submission is electronic, via anonymous ftp (see details below).

LaTeX Style Files

The proceedings will be published using LaTeX with the ASP style files. The current set of ASP style files can be obtained from http://pasp.byu.edu/FTP_Site/stylesheets/ or from here at Mt Stromlo in http://www.mso.anu.edu.au/~pn_symp/documents/

The files required are newpasp.sty (the style file) and newspasp.man.tex ( an example for using the pasp macros). An ASP document with generic authors instructions for using the PASP style files is also available at http://www.mso.anu.edu.au/~pn_symp/documents/pasp_ai.pdf.

If you have problems installing and operating these style files, contact us at pn_symp@mso.anu.edu.au.

Graphics Files

Plots and images must be submitted in an electronic format, either in .eps, or in .pdf, TIFF or Photoshop format if EPS is not possible. EPS already formatted to print with the LaTeX document are strongly preferred.

Colour figures and images will be converted to black and white or grayscale by us - so it is best to prepare the figures appropriately in the first place.

Page Limits

These limits include all references and figures, and must not be exceeded.

Copyright Forms

No paper can be published without the copyright form being signed. All participants received a copy of the form in their registration packages. An adobe acrobat version of the form suitable for printing out and posting is also available at http://www.mso.anu.edu.au/pn_symp/documents/copyright.pdf. this must be signed and posted or FAXed to the symposium editors.

Electronic Submission

Papers are to be submitted electronically via anonymous ftp to:

host: merlin.anu.edu.au
user: anonymous
password:
<your email address>

You should set the directory to /pub/pn_symp/procs/

For example (on a UNIX terminal) type:

ftp merlin.anu.edu.au

login and then...

cd /pub/pn_symp/procs/

Authors should use an ftp client to access this area, and then create a directory with a name based on their own names. For example "mkdir rsutherland" would create a directory called rsutherland for an author called Ralph Sutherland. Then the LaTeX .tex file and any graphics files should be transferred to this directory. Use filenames also based on the author's name.

For example (on a UNIX terminal), once logged in as above:

mkdir rsutherland
cd rsutherland
put rsuther.tex
put rsfig01.eps

... etc. for each file, then

bye

Finally, a notification of the submission, with title, directory name, all file names and final authors names should be emailed to pn_symp@mso.anu.edu.au. You will be notified of your successful submission or any problems.

Thankyou

The Editors!
