Mount Stromlo is on tourist Route 5 in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

Scope Café

There is a café on Mt Stromlo again! Scope Café opened on March 19 2011. Find out all about it here.

Mount Stromlo Observatory Visitors Centre

Unfortunately, the Mount Stromlo Visitor’s Centre is closed indefinitely.


Reconstruction: Advanced Instrumentation and Technology Centre

The Advanced Instrumentation and Technology Centre was opened in October 2006 by the Federal Education Minister, the Hon. Julie Bishop MP. It has replaced the workshops destroyed in the fires of January 2003, offering expanded design, manufacturing and testing capabilities for precision optical instruments, opportunities for higher degree student participation in technical projects, and a research and development program focusing on Extremely Large Telescopes.
