Mount Stromlo Observatory Visitors CentreUnfortunately, the Mount Stromlo Visitor’s Centre is closed indefinitely. Reconstruction: Advanced Instrumentation and Technology CentreThe Advanced Instrumentation and Technology Centre was opened in October 2006 by the Federal Education Minister, the Hon. Julie Bishop MP. It has replaced the workshops destroyed in the fires of January 2003, offering expanded design, manufacturing and testing capabilities for precision optical instruments, opportunities for higher degree student participation in technical projects, and a research and development program focusing on Extremely Large Telescopes.
