ANU SSO Telescope Support

After hours support - Siding Spring Observatory

The telescopes operated by the ANU (RSAA) at Siding Spring are covered after hours by the following arrangements:

• A member of ANU SSO Technical Staff is present at the Observatory until 18:00 during normal working days. This person can be contacted in the 16" dome (by phone or in person) or on the mobile phone number posted in each dome.
• There is no technical assistance available (no callouts) on weekends or public holdays.
• The is no technical assistance available after 18:00 on any day.
• There is no support during the Christmas and Easter holidays.

Computer problems at the SSO telescopes are covered by an informal arrangement as follows:

• If possible, first consult with the on-site SSO Technical Staff member
• The following staff have agreed to offer advice by phone, but no later than 10:30 pm. On occasions and at their discretion, they may offer further assistance. If problems arise before 10:30 pm, call the staff listed in the order on the following list.

Observing Reports

• Weather and Downtime log - please complete at the end of every night.
• Submit an observer’s report - please complete at the end of your run.
