Focal Plane History


Revision C 12-Mar-98

Due to failure of CCD9 amplifier A, focal plane, FP9, was rewired to change readout from single output amplifier to enable readout from two amplifiers either C and D or A and B. One boards was layed out and manufactured for both. However, due to layout error and non symmetry of CCD9, the board has to be assembled differently for each set of amplifiers.

Board Wiring

Amplifier A&B
  1. CCD9 pin 1 connected to pin 1 of board footprint ie. the square pad.
  2. In relationship to CCD9 pin numbering, socket pins 50, 51, 29 and 30 should not be populated into the board. This stops reserved signal being shorted to OUTc, VDDc, VDDb and OUTb.
  3. Board connectors should be wired up as per E3053c2a.sch. Note copper wire should be used for VSS.
Amplifier C&D
  1. CCD9 pin 46 connected to pin 1 of board footprint ie. the square pad.
  2. In relationship to CCD9 pin numbering, socket pins 50, 51, 29 and 30 should not be populated into the board. This stops reserved signal being shorted to OUTc, VDDc, VDDb and OUTb.
  3. Board connectors should be wired up as per E3053c4a.sch. Note copper wire should be used for VSS.

FP9 was wired to be able to be readout from amplifiers C and D and 33ohm SDSU controller heater resistor added.
