Installation of E2V Science CCDs into SkyMapper Focal Plane.
Status, November 7th, 2007
The following is a complete set of pictures taken in the AITC Clean Room
(Room LG1.13), yesterday (November 6th).
These pictures show the full complement of E2V Science CCDs being
installed into the SkyMapper Focal Plane.
There are images every 2 CCD installations, along with a host of other
technical stuff ... and one or 2 'others' as well!
And the work included:-
- breaking the anti-static warning seals on 32 detector boxes
- releasing 128 detector case screws
- releasing 96 detector carrier screws
- removing 96 detector carrier lock nuts
- removing 96 detector carrier 'wavy' washers
- inserting the draw bar 32 times
- installing the locating pin 32 times
- installing 32 off $75,000 Science CCDs into position in the FP
- installing 96 detector 'wavy' washers
- installing 96 detector lock nuts..
- torquing to 0.3Nm 96 detector lock nuts
- removing the draw bar 32 times
- removing the locating pin 32 times
And all without dropping or losing anything in the Vacuum Jacket!
