The CASPIR detector array must be held accurately at its operating temperature of 32 K. This is achieve by the use of a Lakeshore Cryotronics Model 330 temperature controller which is located on top of the Cassegrain Instrument Rack in the 2.3 m Nasmyth Lab. This controller can be configured through front panel controls, or via RS-232 commands. While the infrared control software is running, a subprocess continually monitors both the array temperature, which is actively servoed to a preset value, and a second temperature sensor attached to the camera body.
