Dear Penny and Frank,

Through various channels we have heard about the devastating fires 
that have destroyed much of the Mount Stromo Observatory.  Both Ria 
and I are shocked and deeply saddened by this news.  We have many 
friends at the Observatory, and we are relieved to know that no lives 
have been lost.  However, the damage to many aspects of life and work 
at the Observatory must be enormous, and  we deeply sympathize with 
everybody at the Observatory in these terrible days.  

Penny, we realize that the burden on you as Director is inconceivable.  
We wish you all the strength and wisdom that you need for your herculean 
task; and we trust that many people will give you all the support they can.

We are deeply distressed by the loss of their home that our good friends 
Ken and Margaret Freeman have suffered.  We would like to send them a 
message.  How can they be reached?
