It was with shock and compassion that I read about the devastation of Stromlo. I'm
sure you've had many messages of sympathy. Let me add mine while wishing to
encourage you forwards. I'm sure Stromlo will be preserved; I'm sure that the fire
will be seen in hind-sight as a transformationally positive event; I'm sure that
NIFS will be resurrected by Gemini and made even better for it; I'm sure you'll go
ahead magnificently with GSAOI (BTW: congratulations).
Be assured, your huge contribution to the health of Stromlo in particular and
Australian astronomy in general is widely recognized.
