Dear Friends,
I was saddened to hear the news about the Mt Stromlo observatory this
morning. Thats a terrible disaster for astronomy in Australia and
personally for those of you who use the telescopes and, I understand, the
loss of new instruments being built for Gemini. I would guess for those
who live near the observatory, it is even worse as homes will have been
burnt out as well.
I am sure everyone must be pretty devastated and from this distance its
hard to offer anything other than messages support. However, if later on
there is anything more practical that we can do to help please get in
touch.
Best wishes,
Martin
