Title:
Monitoring Nearby Supernovae in the Southern Sky
Project Description:
Every month astronomers discover several stars exploding in outer galaxies, and a number of telescopes around the world follow the evolution of such explosions, called supernovae. One of these is the 2.3m telescope. Tonight it will be used to take data of the most important supernovae currently observable and to confirm whether objects which have been discovered in the past few days are indeed supernovae.
