When the sun grows old, it will blow off the outer half of its mass in
a 'superwind' that will envelop the sun and solar system in dust and
gas. Astronomers on the 2.3m tonight are using infrared detectors to
study stars in the 'superwind' state to try to learn more about this
phenomenon. |
