Resolving galactic superwind outflows: the role of starbursts, black holes and
Project Description:
We are using the powerful new instrumentation at the 2.3,meter telescope in order to study the detailed workings of nearby galaxies which are forming new stars at a prodigious rate. The high rate of star formation leads to many powerful supernova explosions, which drive strong winds out from the central regions of these galaxies, recycling old material back into the environment around them.
