Project Description: |
When a star up to 7 times the mass of the sun grows old, it will blow off its outer layers.
This wind will be enriched in elements formed in the star by nuclear burning processes.
Astronomers on the 2.3m tonight are using infrared detectors to
study old stars to try to learn more about the element enrichment in the winds from these stars,
and about dust in the winds. |
