Project Description: |
A star like the sun will eventually throw off all but a tiny part of its
hydrogen-rich outer layers. At this time, the star
will shrink rapidly and become hotter. Astronomers on the 2.3m telescope
are looking for examples of these stars so that they can then examine their
evolution and compositions and find out which elements have been produced
by nuclear fusion reactions.
