Project Description: |
Large surveys for variable stars have found very rare binary star
systems containing pairs of red giants eclipsing each other, and red giants
in supposedly eccentric orbits with unseen companions. This project aims to obtain radial velocities of the
red giants so that the sizes, masses and luminosities of the stars can be
determined, and to confirm the eccentric orbits. |
