Project Description: |
Variable stars known as RR Lyrae stars are excellent tracers of the
Galactic halo. They are intrinsically luminous, so can be found at large
distances, and with variability of up to 1 mag or more over periods of 0.6
days, they are relatively easy to discover. This 2.3m program aims to find
velocities of RR Lyrae stars to gather information about substructure in the
halo. |
