Title:
Black Hole Masses and Accretion Rates in Moderate Luminosity AGN
Project Description:
*-15pt Active galaxies are the brightest galaxies in the Universe. They are powered by matter accreting onto a super-massive black hole at their core (between one million and one billion times the mass of the sun). How the properties of active galaxies change with the black hole mass is fundamental to our understanding of these systems. By measuring how fast the stars are orbiting the black hole we will measure its mass.
