Project Description: |
Our aim is to identify white dwarf members of open star clusters. When a star dies
it returns kinetic energy and chemically enriched gas to its environment. These white
dwarfs are suitable for measuring just how much gas a star casts into the interstellar
medium as it expires. This information is important for determining the critical mass
above which stars end their lives as supernovae and thus critical to understanding how
galaxies evolve.
