Second announcement

We are pleased to announce that full registration for 6th Stromlo Symposium on "IFU Science in Australia", 13-15 April 2011, is now open at http://www.mso.anu.edu.au/IFU_Symposium/registration.html.

The symposium - organized on the occasion of Mike Dopita's 65th birthday - will encompass the scientific results and the technology of both the present and future Australian integral field instruments (AAOmega + Spiral, GMTIFS, NIFS & WiFeS), as well as the results obtained by the Australian community on other facilities overseas, and also the techniques of data reduction and presentation of integral field data.

The registration fee is $100 (AUD). The full registration is open to everyone who is interested in participating. The registration will be closed on 11 March 2011, or if a maximum number of participants is reached. In case of any selection process preference will be given to pre-registered participants.

Preliminary scientific program:
A preliminary program has been compiled based on the abstracts received during pre-registration. The program and a list of pre-registered participants is available for download at http://www.mso.anu.edu.au/IFU_Symposium/program.html. The main sessions are:
- IFU Instrumentation: Present and Future
- Galaxies, Star Formation, and AGN
- ISM, Stars, and Planets
- Surveys
All talks will be recorded and made available online.

Venue and Transport:
The symposium will take place in the Duffield Lecture Theatre at the ANU Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics on Mount Stromlo. Mount Stromlo is located about 15 km outside the inner city of Canberra and the ANU main campus. It can only be reached by car or taxi. For participants without car we will try to organize transport between the ANU main campus and Mount Stromlo at a fixed time before and after the lectures. Please indicate in the registration form if you wish to make use of this option. For participants requiring transport it is recommended to choose accommodation close to the ANU campus, i.e. on campus or in the inner city. Accommodation:
Several options for accommodation are listed at http://www.mso.anu.edu.au/IFU_Symposium/accommodation.html. A block booking for two different room types has been made at University House. Please mention "IFU Symposium" when booking your room directly with University House Accommodation.

Social program:
Morning/afternoon teas and lunches will be provided on the days of the symposium. The lunch on Friday (15 April 2011) will be a joint lunch with the fourtnightly Stromlo BBQ. The dinner on Thursday night (14 April 2011) in a restaurant on the ANU main campus is included in the registration fee for participants.

Pre-registration is now open at: www.mso.anu.edu.au/IFU_Symposium until 17 December 2010.

The abstracts received will be used as the basis to create the science program.
