At the focal plane
Specialised guide fibres (4 per fieldplate) positioned on stars for acquisition and guiding.
Provision for autoguiding from TV image of guide fibres (shown to work but practical implementation awaiting TV upgrade).
Focal Plane Imager gantry carrying cooled CCD camera. Used for:
- Astrometric checks at start of each observing run
- Field acquisition
- Seeing measurements
- Acquisition of standard stars
