The optical fibres
The fibres themselves (808 of them):
- High UV throughput silica fibres 8 metres long.
- Terminated with SF5 microprism (92o)
- Small footprint magnetic button to locate and hold in place.
- Bare fibres kept taut with 30g tension force.
Retractor units in groups of 10 fibres for assembly and maintenance.
Two fieldplates 560mm diameter, 21 embedded reference marks, limited field rotation to come.
Tumbler to switch fieldplates back and forth.
