VIMOS: MOS capabilities
Each of the 4 channels can in principle accommodate nearly 200 slits in low resolution spectroscopy
High-precision slits are cut by a laser machine on metal masks
Focal Plane Adapter Lenses
- Resolutions available will be 250, 1000 and 2500 for VIMOS, only 2500 for NIRMOS
- In addition, super-MOS will be possible with the IFU: 6400 fibres
