ESP: galaxy mean density

• Significant evidence for local under-density of nearly a factor of 2 in contrast within ~250 h-1 Mpc

• Not due to shot noise!

• Independent from <n> estimator

• Compatible with difference found in F* with respect to Stromlo-APM

• Stromlo-APM survey too shallow to compensate for such “local void”

• The origin of steep number counts !!!
